Tech team reaches league final in charity five-a-side football tournament

A team from IT company Aura Technology recently made it to the final of the Southampton Goals charity five-a-side football tournament Europa Conference League, raising money for its chosen charity, The Minstead Trust.

Captained by Aura’s Operations Director, Steve Stokes, the Aura team competed against players from ten local companies for the tournament cup.

The tournament was organised by Business Fives, which runs corporate charity football events throughout the UK and Ireland that offer professionals a chance to leave the office, focus on their wellbeing and make some new connections while raising money for their preferred charities.

In the match report Aura’s team received a special mention for its performance in a hard-fought final and was only narrowly pipped at the post for the Europa Conference League winners’ title.

Captain Steve Stokes said: “Although we didn’t win this time, our team played brilliantly and we all had a great afternoon. I’m also delighted that we raised awareness and money for The Minstead Trust to support their fabulous work for people with learning disabilities.”

After the trophy presentation by former Southampton defender Franny Benali MBE, who also held a Q&A for eager football fans, the event concluded with prize-giving, a drinks reception and buffet.
