The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust (HIOWWT) is a leading UK conservation charity, working to protect and restore wildlife and wild places with the help of over 150 staff and thousands of dedicated volunteers. As the Trust grew, so did the need for reliable, strategic IT support.
After experiencing a decline in service from their previous provider, HIOWWT made the decision to change. Following a competitive tender process, Aura Technology was selected to deliver managed IT services and long-term strategic guidance.
Since the partnership began in 2019, Aura has supported the Trust through a phased digital transformation. This included moving away from legacy systems and adopting cloud-based tools like Microsoft 365 and Teams — with remote working rolled out ahead of schedule in response to the pandemic.
Aura also helped HIOWWT expand the capabilities of their CRM system, modernise data handling in the field, improve cyber security and introduce automation across finance, HR and supporter engagement. These changes have saved time, improved efficiency and supported the Trust’s hybrid working model.
The Trust’s staff now benefit from visible, responsive support, with easy access to helpdesk services and monthly check-ins with a dedicated engineer. Aura’s role continues to evolve as a strategic partner, advising on upcoming system integrations and future data initiatives.
This close, collaborative relationship has enabled the Trust to improve its IT resilience, reduce operational costs and focus more fully on its environmental mission.
The partnership has recently been extended for another three years.
